Flagstaff~~Orpheum Theatre
The Orpheum Theatre was built by John Weatherford in the early 1900′s. Many staff have experienced odd occurrences. A janitor, cleaning late at night, saw a dark figure floating back and fourth through the aisles of the balcony. Also while the final movie was playing for the night. Three staff members saw a roll of paper towels rapidly unrolling on its own. One employee put his hand on it to stop it. Only t have it begin again when he removed his hand. There are also reports of sinks turing on full blast by themselfs. Rumor has it that a man hung himself from the balcony.
Kingsman~~Launa’s Canyon
Launa’s Canyon is about three miles southwest of downtown Kingsman. The story goes. During the 1800′s a soon to be family of four ( The soon to be husban. His soon to be wife Launa. And his two daughters) traveled out to “old town” Kingsman in search for gold. In time the family built a large house near a deep canyon. The man’s daughters hated the young Launa for the way she treated them. Launa wanted their father all to herself. So the night before her wedding Launa murdered the two girls. When she regained her sanity and relised what she had done. She whent screaming and moaning to the canyon, begging for forgiveness. To this day it is said that you can still hear Launa’s mornful begging throughout the canyon.
Phoenix~~Superstition Mountians
Superstition Mountians popularly referred to as “The Sopies” or “The Supes” are a large range of mountains in Arizona. They are a popular recreation destination. Most flock to the beautiful range because of the Lost Dutchman’s Gold mines story. However the tend to find the paranormal instead. Some have reported seeing strange lights and shadows. There are confirmed indian burial grounds scattered throughout the mountians. Many have reported hearing voices as well.
I hope you have enjoyed this weeks installment of Historic Haunts. Arkansas will be up nexted week.
Good job Amber. I like the last haunt best. What is it about Indian burial grounds? They sure were angry folks! Then again… they have every right to be.
